Softer, more flexible leather. Cabretta is standard for a reason, but softer materials forgive more. Stiff synthetic tips are the fastest way to tear through.
Size honestly. A too-small glove with nails is a guaranteed split seam. If you're between sizes, go up, and look for adjustable closures to take up the slack.
Rotate two gloves. Sweat breaks down leather. Two gloves alternating last more than twice as long as one glove used constantly.
